Best Educational Product 2014

The Programme team are delighted to announce we have received a second prestigious award, this time for ‘Best Educational Product’ at the British Youth Travel Awards 2014

We are thrilled to announce that our travel partners, Equity have been awarded ‘Best Educational Product’ at the British Youth Travel Awards in recognition of the delivery of the First World War Centenary Battlefields Tours Programme which we run in partnership with them.

The awards ceremony was held on the 4th December at Westfield London, and were coordinated by BETA, the British Educational Travel Association who is the body representing suppliers of education, youth and student related travel products.

Equity (Inspiring Learning) CEO, John Bentley said “We are thrilled to win the prestigious Best Educational Product category and are proud that the First World War Centenary Battlefield Tours Programme is part of the official centenary acts of remembrance. A large team of people at Equity, Kingswood and our partners at the UCL Institute of Education have worked very hard to create an experience which is innovative, grounded in pedagogical best practice and which benefits both students and teachers… I am delighted for the team that their hard work, commitment and creativity have been recognised."

BETA Executive Director, Emma English, said “The British Youth Travel Awards are a much sought after industry accolade and each year the competition grows.  Many congratulations to Equity for scooping the top prize in the Best Educational Product category, and what a fitting programme to commemorate this significant milestone in history. Many congratulations to all of the team!”

Jerome Freeman,  Programme Director, World War Centenary Battlefield Tours Programme said “We are delighted to have won our second award in just over a couple of weeks, this time the prestigious Best Educational Product at the British Youth Travel Awards 2014.  This is a vindication of the innovative approach we have taken to creating the First World War Centenary Battlefield Tours Programme.   Our focus from the start has been on ensuring that participating teachers and students receive a high quality and groundbreaking educational experience through undertaking meaningful historical enquiries on the battlefield sites of the Western Front.   It is tremendous that all the hard work put in by the team at UCL Institute of Education and Equity has been duly recognised.”

The success of the programme, which delivers both innovative and high quality CPD and tour programmes is testament to the hard work and commitment shown by all involved at both Equity and UCL IOE, and also from our key partners, including the International Guild of Battlefield Guides who play a fundamental role in the tours themselves.
