We have added a number of new Ideas for the Classroom features to the Teaching Resources section of the website. These link to and share teaching resources from three different organisations and projects covering topics from Conscientious Objection to Football in the First World War.
The first of these Ideas for the classroom comes from the Peace Pledge Union. The PPU have created a range of new resources to help teachers look at alternative aspects of the First World War covering topics such as;
- Conscientious Objection
- The symbolism of war memorials
- War Poetry
- Can wars ever be just?
The next new feature looks at Football and the First World War. This project aims to tell the story of football during the war, allowing students to explore a wide range of areas from wartime leagues, match-fixing, the rise of women’s football and much more.
The final new feature is the resources from the Bible Society who offer a range of teaching materials for teachers of history, English, RS and Citizenship. The resources include lessons plans and assemblies which have been developed to ask students to consider 'why the world went to war' and ideas such as 'self-sacrifice'.
Full details of all of these resources can be found by visiting the Ideas for the Classroom page in the Teaching Resources section of the website.
